Mario Dandy Satriyo (20) and Shane Lukas (19) have been officially referred to the prosecutor's office and are ready to stand trial in the case of assaulting Cristalino David Ozora (17). Mario Dandy stated that he has prepared a defense for the upcoming trial. "Yes, there is a defense," Mario told reporters on Friday (May 26, 2023).
Mario Dandy did not explain what defense he will present after being named a suspect for brutally assaulting David. Mario stated that he will present it during the trial. Mario Dandy also apologized for his actions in the case. "It will be presented in court," he said.
Mario Dandy's lawyer, Andreas Rahot Silitonga, stated that they are ready to face the prosecutor's charges. He predicted that the prosecutor will try to prove the allegation of premeditated assault. He also mentioned that they will prepare witnesses to mitigate Mario Dandy's situation.
"We will see the evidence presented during the trial. There will be various charges alleged," said Andreas to reporters. "Regarding the assault, there will be no debate there because we will also prepare facts and witnesses to strengthen our case. But the main point is that the prosecutor has to prove the charges. We will see how the prosecutor presents the evidence," he added.
Mario Dandy Detained for 94 Days
The investigators of the Metro Jaya Regional Police's Criminal Investigation Unit (Ditreskrimum) have handed over Mario Dandy and Shane Lukas to the South Jakarta Prosecutor's Office this afternoon. Both of them were referred to the South Jakarta Prosecutor's Office after the case files were deemed complete.
"These two suspects have been detained for 94 days, and Shane for 92 days," said the Director of Ditreskrimum of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Kombes Hengki Haryadi, to reporters at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters in Jakarta on Friday (May 26, 2023).
Hengki stated that the investigation process took quite a long time. In addition, the police investigators made several revisions to complete the case files until they were finally deemed complete (P21) on May 24, 2023.
"We had to make several revisions to the case files and sent them back to the prosecutor's office. The last time was on May 10, and fortunately, two days ago, it was declared P21, and today is the second phase for the two suspects," he said.
Hengki explained the reason why the investigation of Mario Dandy's case took a considerable amount of time. The investigators were very cautious to ensure that there were no loopholes for the suspects to escape.
"Of course, in this case, it took a long time to perfect the case files regarding the construction of the charges. We wanted to make sure there were no loopholes," he said.
His hope is that Mario Dandy and Shane Lukas will receive a fair punishment. "Of course, the hope is that the verdict will provide a sense of justice to the public and legal certainty," he concluded.
